Introductions
I have a few other blogs that involve me rambling through things that interest me and things that I do. This blog is for things related to my experience in the Church, other religions, and the Bible.
A little background that may or may not qualify me to speak. I was raised in the Southern Baptist denomination. When I graduated high school, I left it for Calvary Chapel (then lead by Chuck Smith). When I attended Moody Bible Institute, I attended, a few SBC's, a Calvary Chapel, and an Evangelical Free Church. I also attended Moody Church for a short while.
When I moved westward, I attended a GARBC (General Association of Regular Baptists), an EFree church, and a couple of SBC church. I and my family finally settled to raise our family in a BGC (Baptist General Conference) church which is now Converge Northwest and part of Converge World Wide. (BGC officially changed their name to correspond with their mission.)
I have been in many different churches. I have even been at what was known as JPUSA (Jesus People USA) in Chicago. I have seen strong churches and weak churches and I have seen rich churches and poor churches.
I have taught Sunday School to kids, adults and seniors. I have lead Bible Studies and shared the Gospel in the workplace.
There's a lot of good things happening in the Church today (in protestant churches as I have zero knowledge of what is going on in the Catholic parishes in my area.) I see new churches being planted everywhere. This is a good thing and more preferred over growing a mega church, but that is for another day.
I also see that some churches have needs that are not getting met. Eventually, these needy church implode and disband. Sometimes disbanding is a good thing. Sometimes it is not a good thing.
Overall, my observations come from experience in various churches I have been in. It also comes from years of personal study of Scripture and observation of people. My purpose in blogging here is I simply want to put what I know on "paper". The Gospel of Jesus Christ is not to be kept hidden in a cabinet drawer. It is to be free proclaimed and openly discussed.
